Our history
There is no future without memory



1980s
The association La Strada is founded to give answers to the needs of many young people of a suburban area of Milan. It promotes the birth of many projects, activities and services that in the years develop and grow both in Milan and in the territory of the Brianza (near lake Lecco).

1993
The cooperative society La Strada is founded, it inherits most of the activities started by the association.

1998
The headquarters of La Strada is moved to the building of Piazzetta street. It is an important change that allows to increase the activities thanks to greater available space.
The centre In-Presa, a daily centre for minors and adolescent with different problems, comes into existence.
Later on, in the neighbourhoods Molise, Calvairate and Corvetto in Milan, 15 apartments are restructured and given to persons and families at serious homelessness risk.

2002
The centre Tiama, for the assistance and care of minors victims of abuse, is inaugurated.

2004
The activities of the Brianza (near the lake Lecco) are given to the Cooperative Atipica who is founded by some operators of the same La Strada. In September the community for aids victims is moved from le province of Lecco to Milan.
In the years the cooperative consolidates the management of its “historical” services and along with the traditional services it develops several projects co-financed by public institutions and foundations.

2008
Two new services are opened: the daily community Dedalo for young people who have committed criminal offences and Casa Mia, apartments for the promotion of the autonomy of single mothers with little children.
